The body of the Viper-256 SW is made of mahogany. A three-piece glued mahogany neck with a narrow Thin U fast profile is joined by a jatoba, also known as Brazilian cherry, fingerboard with twenty-four Extra Jumbo frets. Positioning blocks make it easy to navigate its surface.
Two proprietary passive humbuckers provide the guitar with the necessary sonic drive. The strings are held in the company's tuning machines and a solid TOM headstock and truss rod. The stylish design of the instrument is accentuated by the Snow White body and headstock color scheme and contrasting black hardware.
ESP has been making electric guitars since 1984 and satisfied customers include Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Ronnie Wood and Max Cavalera. Due to the popularity of these instruments, a subsidiary company, LTD, has been formed to offer popular models in an affordable option. However, even in the case of ESP-LTD guitars, great emphasis is placed on the quality of workmanship and fitted components.
