The Korg Minilogue XD is an analogue polyphonic synthesizer whose sonic possibilities are greatly expanded by digital sound sources. There is also an effects unit and an advanced sequencer. If you are looking for a modern analogue synthesizer, the Korg Minilogue XD should not be missed.
Each of the four voices consists of two analog oscillators, multi-engine, filter, two envelope generators, LFO and VCA. There is also waveshaping, ring modulation and cross modulation. This gives you both classical and harmonically very rich sounds. There are 200 factory presets and you can store up to 500 presets in total.
The digital multi-engine offers three sound sources - a noise generator VPM oscillator with phase and frequency modulation and a User oscillator that allows you to import your own digital oscillators. The memory can hold up to 16 of them.
The Minilogue XD also has a high quality effects unit that includes reverbs, delay, chorus and other modulation effects. Up to three of these can be used at the same time, and even in this case you can store your favourite presets in memory.
The sequencer offers 16 steps that can be entered individually using the buttons or recorded in real time. The sequencer is polyphonic and also allows programming of up to four parameters. This makes it easy to create rhythmic modulations.
Individual voices can be used in Poly (polyphony), Unison (voices layered on top of each other in mono mode) and Chord (chord play) modes. Of course, there is also an arpeggiator, which can be used simultaneously with the sequencer.
Other features worth mentioning include the possibility of microtonal tuning of individual keys with presets from Aphex Twin and Dorian Concep, a display showing oscilloscope and even modulation progress parameters, a stereo output and two CV inputs for interfacing with modular and vintage synths.
