In 2008, the microKorg XL was introduced, taking the microKorg's dense sound and adding keyboard gems like the electric piano and CX-3 organ. Now, as the next evolutionary step - the ideal and compact microKorg XL+ brings a new update to the sounds and look of the microKorg XL.

- The microKORG XL+ takes the renowned analog-modulated synth sounds that are so characteristic of the microKORG and also brings in sounds from other proven models, such as the classic KORG SGproX stage piano. You will also find sounds taken from the - M1 and the VOX organ, and some others that are indelibly etched in the history of keyboard instruments. Each of these 128 programs are truly inspiring sounds, making the microKORG XL+ find use as a main instrument or a second key in a lineup.

Genre selector

You may already be familiar with the sound selector from the microKORG XL, consisting of rotary buttons for "music genre" and "instrument category". The new microKORG XL+ expands the "music genre" selector to match today's rapidly changing music scene. This allows you to select the sounds you need for your song much faster and completely intuitively. You can rotate one of the rotary knobs while playing a song and leave the other in the same position, to select either just an instrument category or different vocoder variations, for example.

New yet classic - "New Vintage" design

The design of the microKORG XL+ is a modern reminiscence of classic electric pianos. Together with high-quality details - such as metal rods, swivel casters with audible peel, or buttons with a naturally stiff response - the microKORG XL+ thus surpasses other instruments in its class, and will help you better enjoy making music with this instrument.

MMT - Korg's distillate of analog modeling technology

The microKORG XL+ sound engine uses MMT (Multiple Modeling Technology), taken from KORG's brilliant analog modeling technology. MMT, consisting of two oscillators that generate very dense sounds, has been used in several previous instruments. For the first oscillator (OSC1), you can choose from seven algorithm types, including formant samples such as human voice and PCM/DWGS samples for vintage keyboards and loops. It also allows you to use techniques that cannot be emulated on typical PCM synthesizers, such as cross modulation, Unison, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) modulation. In conjunction with a second oscillator (OSC2), you can achieve surprisingly complex and dense sounds. By using modulation (synchronous or circular) with oscillator 2, it is easy to create complex and very dense sounds.

Vocoder functions including gooseneck microphone

The MicroKORG XL+ also works as a proficient vocoder. The signal from the microphone can be used to change the sound of the oscillator to achieve "talking" effects. The vocoder consists of a 16-band filter that simulates the sounds of historical vocoders and shifts the filter frequencies (Format Shift function) or determines the level and panorama of each band, thus dramatically changing the sound character. Using the vocoder, you can easily create the sounds you know from contemporary electronic music. A gooseneck microphone is included so you can start using it in your tracks immediately.

Effective effects you expect from KORG

The two master effects are based on the effects engine perfected by the Korg Kaoss Pad series, offering a total of 17 effect types, including delay and echo effects, or even a Ring modulator and Grain shifter effect. In addition, some effects, such as delay, can be synchronised with MIDI tempo, offering a wide range of possibilities, especially for live production.

Natural Touch Mini-Keyboard

The new Natural Touch keyboard offers a better playing experience than ever before. Key proportions have been adjusted to make chords easier to play, and key response has been refined for greater ease when playing fast phrases. The sophisticatedly improved Waterfall keyboard is also evident during glissando, among other things.

Battery powered for easy portability

The MicroKORG XL+ is powered by the included AC adapter or six AA alkaline batteries. Together with its diminutive dimensions and weight of 2 kg (without batteries and microphone), it is thus the ideal companion when travelling in search of new, unrepeatable musical experiences.

Extend your audio capabilities via USB

Connect the microKORG XL+ to your computer with a USB cable and, using the Sound Editor software, you can easily and clearly edit all the parameters of the sounds from your computer. In addition, you can download the preset data from the microKORG and MS2000/MS2000B models for free, further expanding the sound possibilities of the microKORG XL+.
