Keyboard
With specially designed piano mechanics and a wooden keyboard with a fine-tuned tactile response, the AvantGrand becomes a true alternative to the classical piano. The strikes of the hammers on the "strings" take place from below, allowing for slight adjustments to the weight distribution of the hammers and the movement of the hammers themselves for a smoother playing feel. In addition to the hammer pickup, this instrument uses a non-contact key pickup, and it is this combination that provides impressive sensitivity for the entire range from pianissimo to fortissimo and the ability to transparently transpose even the fastest trills. The wooden construction of the keyboard mirrors that of the piano and features New Ivory II keys on white keys. This is a unique material developed by Yamaha, whose texture perfectly approximates that of natural ivory. The Tactile Response System (TRS) focuses on reproducing reverberation through two pickups in the soundboard. The player thus gets a natural sound that can literally be felt from the touch of the hands on the keyboard and the press of the feet on the pedals. This system can be switched on and off and the vibration can be set to one of three levels.

Sound
A unique approach to acoustic sampling and speaker systems, born from a radical rethinking of the entire sound production process, resulted in the introduction of the AvantGrand models. Yamaha's finest instrument was carefully selected from the full CFIIIS concert grand piano as the sound source. As a result of the comprehensive sounding of this model, the AvantGrand series instruments almost perfectly reproduce the original sound of this superb grand piano.

Sound system
The AvantGrand speaker system has been designed to make this sound as audible as possible where you play. A three-way system including woofer, midrange and tweeter drivers accurately reproduces the rich natural resonance of the soundboard. In addition, a separate amplifier is installed for each of the bands. This carefully designed configuration allows the instrument's superb sound system to reproduce the nuances of each individual tone.
