Yamaha's FG/FS Red Label acoustic and electroacoustic guitars are an interesting combination of classic design (based on the FG180 models introduced in 1966) and modern features. These are well-crafted instruments with all-massive construction in the original Yamaha FG (Dreadnought) and FS (Concert) designs.
The Yamaha FGX5G is an electroacoustic guitar with a large resonant FG (Dreadnought) body. The guitar's soundboard is made from solid Sitka spruce, which has undergone A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) technology at the molecular level before assembly. Through precise control of temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure, the wood achieves acoustic qualities comparable to an instrument that has been actively played for many years. You get your hands on a guitar with "won" wood.
The back and sides are made of solid mahogany. The acoustic properties are raised to a higher level by the new design of the reduced X ribbing. An ebony fingerboard with 20 frets is glued to the mahogany neck. Tuning stability is guaranteed by the attachment of the strings through the saddle and zero frets made of real bone in the company's open tuning machines and ebony headstock.
The Atmosfeel preamp offers a unique triple sound sensing method using an under-cowbell piezo pickup, a microphone capsule and a pickup/sensor attached to the top of the guitar. This allows the guitar to offer a full, natural acoustic sound balanced across the entire frequency spectrum, even when voiced. Three knobs subtly placed in the back of the guitar allow you to control the volume, adjust the microphone/sensor pickup ratio and shape the tone colour to your liking.
The stylish look of the instrument is accentuated by a gloss finish, a "V" shaped headstock adorned with the famous "tuning fork" logo and traditional decorative elements in the form of a black and white body surround, a rosette composed of black and white lines and a practical wooden pickguard.
