In the 1920s and 1930s, EMI produced microphones for the British Royal Family - King George V, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. These magnificent microphones lay neglected in the EMI Archive Trust for decades before, in a strange twist of fate, the award-winning film The King's Speech began filming. After careful restoration, the microphones were brought back to life to record the orchestral sections of the film as well as authentic dialogue. In the hands of the Abbey Road engineers, they were then used for experimental purposes in capturing guitars and other instruments to obtain a unique sound, as the microphones were not used for this purpose. Breaking the rules, however, is a way to stand out. Within the plug-in, 3 pickup positions (close, natural and ambient reverb) and room sound characteristics were simulated.
By purchasing the plugin you get a full license which is non-refundable. The license can be activated via the Waves Central app for macOS, Windows and selected mixing consoles with the option to save the registration details on a USB stick (not included) for use on multiple devices. No iLok required.
