The Warm Audio WA-14SP is a stereo pair of large-diaphragm condenser microphones, carefully metered and paired for the most natural and consistent stereo image.
The Warm Audio WA-14 is an authentic recreation of the ultra-rare AKG 414 "EB" circuit microphone, which has rightfully become one of the most widely used microphones in the world. The WA-14 is ideal for capturing natural sound with minimal coloration and smooth highs. It delivers the same sonic output as the original and can be used on a variety of sources such as piercing but pleasantly coloured intimate vocals, acoustic instruments, guitar and bass, drums or percussion, strings etc. The WA-14 features a custom solid CK12 capsule, CineMag USA transformer and a fully discrete signal path, giving an output worthy of a vintage microphone, but all at an affordable price.
Like the original, the WA-14 provides natural sound reproduction with a rich analog tone. This comes from a gradual rise in the frequency response curve in the 1-2 kHz region with smooth but never harsh highs. At the heart of the microphone is an all-copper CK12-type capsule that remains true to the specification of the first "EB" style microphones. Thanks to this capsule, 3 directional characteristics are available : cardioid, omnidirectional (spherical) and bidirectional (figure of eight). At the end of the WA-14 circuit, an American-made CineMag output transformer is used, giving the microphone a much richer sound than many modern reissue microphones without a transformer. Other critical components, such as premium WIMA film capacitors and precision resistors, are used only in the highest quality from the world's leading manufacturers.
The package includes 2 x WA-14 microphones, 2 x spider-type mounts, 2 x single mount with sleeve, two protective microphone cases, a bar with bracket for stereo applications and a carrying case for storing microphones and accessories.
