Vox Valvenergy pedal effects offer the sound and response of real tube amplifiers thanks to the advantages of modern Nutube vacuum tubes. The four second-generation Vox Valvenergy boxes are united by an OLED display providing a visual indication of the sound, a refined design inspired by the sound of individual pedal effects, and the quality buffer needed to extract the full potential of the Nutube tube.
Smooth Impact is the first ever vacuum tube compressor in pedal effect form, with a natural sound and feel that sets it apart from traditional VCA, optical, FET and clipping methods. It represents an ideal choice for players who cherish natural sound and feel and are not compressor aficionados for that very reason. The box can also breathe some "tube" life into even dull sounding digital and transistor instruments.
The pedal effect operates in three operating modes, with VTG (Vintage) offering the most traditional, and also the most expressive, guitar compression sound with a fast effect ramp-up and long sustain, NAT (Natural) a slower ramp-up with a more natural foley, and SAG (Sagging) natural compression with harmonic distortion, i.e. similar to the sound you get from vintage tube machines at higher volumes. The settings of the individual controls determine the input gain (twisting to the right accentuates the harmonic distortion effect), compression level and output volume.
Using a stereo cable (3.5mm TRS jack), you can connect two effects from the Valvenergy range via the Link connector and use them as two independent channels (switching the pedal instantly turns the other off). A 9V adapter or 9V battery is required to power the pedal effect (adapter and battery not included).
