But that's all over now, and just for live sound reinforcement or network recording studios comes the new Apollo X16D rackmount units with elite-class audio conversion and processing using the HEXA DSP core - the world's most powerful system for running Universal Audio plug-ins in real time over Thunderbolt or Dante.
With Apollo x16D, you can mix and record live performances with over 200 UAD plug-ins in real-time. With 16 channels of Dante I/O, the Apollo x16D connects seamlessly to your digital mixing console, giving you direct access to the extensive UAD library.
The powerful digital mixing engine allows you to control plugin inputs, outputs and routing, you can easily build a mix and control entire effect chains in real-time, as well as recall plugin settings via MIDI, all without interrupting your performance.
The Apollo x16D comes in two editions, both of which include a rich set of plugins that you get as part of your purchase. The cheaper Essentials contains over 20 plugins, while with Ultimate+ you get instant access to over 100 Universal Audio plugins.
Link up to four x16D units to create a 64-channel Dante I/O system with network redundancy. Or expand your existing Thunderbolt Apollo studio over a low-latency Dante audio network.
Within the studio, the x16D is a great all-purpose monitoring center for multi-channel mixes up to 9.1.6. You can easily create audio mixes of live sets or studio recordings for Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, Sony 360 Reality Audio and more.
With a professional AES/EBU stereo I/O interface, digital connections to outboard hardware are possible, and the x16D also includes an analog output for monitoring needs. In total, therefore, 18 input and 20 output channels are available at 24 bit/192 kHz or AES67/48 kHz resolution.
