Teenage Engineering Medieval EP-1320

Sampler / HN273300
The creators of Teenage Engineering have already learned how to time travel. It's clear that they draw inspiration for their products from the future, but this time they've packed the innovative and stylish EP-133 K.O. II sampler into a backpack and taken it on a trip to the dark past, a time of the Inquisition, witches, knights and bards. Not only did they all survive this trip, but they brought back a bunch of medieval samples. This content has resulted in the creation of a unique new instrument, EP-1320, which comes with an extensive library of phrases and prepared instruments.

At first glance, you'll be drawn to the unmistakable and impeccable design, which shares the control layout and overall topology of the EP-133 K.O. II sampler. However, sonically, the instrument is packed with stylish medieval sounds that comprise both single samples and ingeniously captured multisampled instruments. A new set of send and punch-in effects (who wouldn't like a torture chamber reverb?) is also tailored to the style, and there's no shortage of brand new arpeggiators. However, you can still sample your own sounds in seconds thanks to the line input or built-in microphone.

In demo mode, you summon the built-in troubadour, select any of the 9 medieval songs and jam along with the sounds and instruments in the four banks. Add a few punchy effects and you're ready to stir up the madness on any pub dance floor.

EP-1320 128 MB of memory and a total of 999 slots are available for various samples. The handy internal microphone for recording your own sound as well as the built-in speaker are more likely to be used on the go, thanks to the option of four AAA batteries. However, we don't recommend a second trip to the 1320 as it risks burning you out.

You can work on nine different projects, each containing 4 groups / 99 patterns. Patterns have 12 tracks for samples and MIDI, with variable length sequences within groups (1 to 99 bars). It is possible to sequence manually or use quantization with the swing algorithm. Polyphony reaches 12 voices in the case of MONO resolution and half, or 6 voices in the case of STEREO. Automation can be recorded within the 12 assigned faders. 12 volume-sensitive pads can be assigned to one of the 16 MIDI channels. Select parts of samples manually with the Slice function in real time or with automation. Internal processing is 32-bit, AD and DA converters are 24-bit.

You can also power the sampler with a USB-C cable. It can be connected to MIDI-enabled devices and also take advantage of synchronization, plug into a computer, or work with almost any connected audio device.

The device is dominated by the traditional Teenage Engineering design, so all components are not only functional, but also high quality and perfect to look at. The guide to all the features the sampler offers will undoubtedly be the innovative super segmented hybrid display.
