Taylor Builders Edition 814ce

The Taylor Builder's Edition 814ce is an electro-acoustic guitar from the Builder's Edition series, which brings together top-of-the-line guitars made in El Cajon, California, with many luxurious design features. It is a Grand Auditorium, i.e. a totally versatile instrument suitable for both pick and fingerstyle playing.

The front of the guitar is made of Adirondack spruce, while the back and sides are made of Indian rosewood. The patented V-Class ribbing improves the guitar's performance in three aspects - increasing the instrument's volume, extending sustain and improving intonation.

The mahogany neck is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with 20 frets. A subtle rounded lower body cutout facilitates playing at higher fretboard positions, while an ergonomic mahogany shoulder rest provides optimal playing comfort. Tuning stability is ensured by the string attachment via the Black TusQ zero fret in the ebony fingerboard and the top-quality Gotoh 510 Antique Gold pegs.

The luxurious workmanship is accentuated by the Kona Edgeburst finish on the back and sides, mother-of-pearl position markers and inlay on the headstock (Mother-of-Pearl Element), green abalone rosette, ebony fingerboard and headstock binding, rosewood pickguard, and ebony pegs in the headstock with mother-of-pearl dots (green abalone).

This is a completely unique way of capturing sound that takes the possibilities of realistic sound reproduction to unprecedented dimensions. Three specially designed independent piezoelectric pickups located behind the fingerboard are used for pickups. Unlike conventional pickups, they do not sense the up and down movement of the board, but the natural back and forth vibration of the grasshopper seat. This makes the sound much more natural, colourful, pleasing and responsive to the dynamics of the playing. The new preamp also makes the signal 25% stronger. Of course, feedback is eliminated and the volume, bass and treble can be adjusted.
