The Academy line offers affordable Taylor acoustic guitars made in our Tecate, Mexico factory. The instruments are made very sparingly, without extra decorative elements, i.e. anything that does not directly affect the sound. The quality associated with the Taylor brand can now be afforded by a wider range of buyers.
The Academy 22e Walnut Top electroacoustic guitar offers a more compact Grand Concert body shape, which will be appreciated by players of smaller builds and guitarists who prefer fingerstyle playing. The body of the guitar is made of walnut - solid walnut front, laminated walnut back and sides.
An ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets is glued to the maple neck. The headstock is made of the same material. The ergonomic armrest also contributes to the player's comfort. Stable tuning is guaranteed by the NuBone zero fret strings in chrome die-cast mechanisms.
The ES-B preamp, installed in the back of the instrument, is based on the ES-2 system developed by Taylor, a unique way of sensing sound using three piezo pickups located behind the fingerboard. The latest electronics model features a volume control, three-band equalizer, built-in chromatic tuner and a clear LED display.
