The Academy line offers affordable Taylor acoustic guitars made in our Tecate, Mexico factory. The philosophy behind the production of these guitars is simple - leave out everything that doesn't directly affect the sound. The instruments are made very sparingly, without extra decorative elements that increase the price. The quality associated with the Taylor brand is now something everyone can afford.
The Academy 12 acoustic guitar offers a more compact Grand Concert body shape, which will be appreciated by players of a more petite build and guitarists who prefer fingerstyle playing. The front of the instrument is made from carefully selected solid Sitka spruce, while the sides and back are made from laminated sapele. The maple neck is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets, the positions classically marked by imitation mother-of-pearl dots. The ergonomic armrest also contributes to the players' comfort.
The strings are anchored in chrome-plated company tuning machines and an ebony fingerboard via a micarta saddle and a NuBone fretboard. The austere design is enhanced by traditional elements in the form of a rosette composed of three rings and a Copafera wood headstock veneer embellished with the company logo.
The guitar comes in a gig bag.
