The soundboard is made from carefully selected solid North American Lutz spruce, while the sides and back are also made from hand-selected solid Indian rosewood. Adjoining the mahogany neck is an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets, the positions marked by special mother-of-pearl markers. A micarta saddle fret is set on the ebony fingerboard. Stability of tuning is guaranteed by high-quality nickel company mechanics. A good visual impression is enhanced by the three-layer maple rosette around the soundboard, koa binding, pickguard in Weathered Brown finish and logo on the headstock.

The sound pickup is handled by the Taylor Expression System 2. This is a completely unique pickup method that pushes the possibilities of realistic sound reproduction to unprecedented dimensions. Three specially designed independent piezoelectric pickups located behind the fingerboard are used for sensing. Unlike conventional pickups, they don't sense the up and down movement of the board, but the natural back and forth vibration of the grasshopper seat. This makes the sound much more natural, colourful and pleasing, and more responsive to the dynamics of your playing. At the same time, the new preamp makes the signal 25% stronger. Of course, feedback is eliminated and you can adjust the volume, bass and treble.
