Stuart Spector began his career as an electric bass guitar builder in Brooklyn in 1976. After partnering with Ned Steinberg, the Spector NS-1 bass was introduced in 1977 and gave a facelift to modern basses with its novel design, including a comfortable rounded body. The following model, the NS-2, had already gained the attention of world-renowned professionals and in the years that followed, Spector basses quickly became a must-have for every modern player across all genres.
The Performer Series instruments represent a more affordable alternative, based on the original NS model, which remains as relevant and popular as ever after nearly forty years. Despite the affordable price, however, you'll find everything that has made Spector instruments so popular around the world in these instruments.
The extremely comfortable body is made from Nato mahogany, which provides great resonance, while the comfortable bolt-on neck is made from three pieces of maple. The fingerboard is made of Amara ebony and features 24 frets or a graphite fretboard. The closed tuning machines on the typically shaped headstock decorated with the Spector logo and the 16.8 mm string spacing headstock are in black.
Sound pickups are handled by a pair of the company's humbucker pickups, giving you a wide range of sonic possibilities. You can then use the volume and tonal aperture potentiometers to control them.
The Performer series of basses are made in Indonesia, where the manufacturer maintains the high standards of the Spector brand. With precision craftsmanship, tone, playability and looks, these basses are on par with instruments from higher price ranges.
