Solid State Logic PureDrive Quad

The Solid State Logic Pure Drive Quad is a modern variation of the great microphone preamplifier based on the famous SuperAnalogue PureDrive topology that was used for the Origin recording console. However, in addition to the new Drive mode, it primarily offers extensive connectivity and expands capabilities to include line and instrument signal processing, providing state-of-the-art digital conversion and an integrated USB-C audio interface. All in a compact 2U rack format.

The four-channel preamp retains the characteristic clarity and punch of the original circuit while offering the flexibility to switch its character. Three Clean/Classic Drive/Asymmetric Drive settings are available to give you a much more sophisticated approach to setting up your desired sound.
* Clean Mode is suitable for a more conservative approach
* Classic Drive generates mostly odd harmonic frequencies and a new circuit
* Asymmetric Drive dominates in accentuating even harmonic frequencies, where the sound is more powerful, more coloured with pleasantly soft transients
Another great feature is the ability to select four different mic preamp input impedance settings, allowing you to achieve different tonal options or precisely match the mic preamp impedance to the selected microphone. Each microphone preamplifier then includes an independent +48V phantom power supply, polarity inversion and a switchable HP filter with multiple step settings from 60 - 300 Hz.

Well, okay. The preamp features four XLR combo inputs on the rear, four Hi-Z/DI instrument inputs on the front panel with auto-detect, and a D-sub connector for line inputs and insert send/insert return.

We want it as a converter, or even an audio interface
Of course. No problem. Versatile digital connectivity includes an integrated USB-C sound card that provides 4 audio channels to your DAW at up to 32 bit/192 kHz resolution. So use the preamp for direct recording as an alternative to the main audio interface or connect it analogue. Two pairs of AES/EBU outputs and an ADAT output offer four channels of 24 bit/48 kHz resolution to augment the inputs of your main soundcard. Through ADAT LINK IN, you can cascade two units and access up to eight channels (or get a 12 in/12 out audio interface). The AES and ADAT outputs can be individually switched to the outputs from the built-in USB soundcard and thus used as outputs from your DAW. There is also a full Word Clock interface with working impedance adjustment for perfect digital synchronization.
