The Sigma SDR-SG5 is a full-massive dreadnought-type electro-acoustic guitar from the higher-end Custom Guitars series, which is sure to appeal to even the most demanding musicians with its craftsmanship, premium materials and playing characteristics. Like many other Sigma instruments, this guitar draws inspiration from famous Gibson designs.
The front of the guitar is made from solid AA quality Adirondack spruce, while the back and sides are made from solid Indian rosewood. The combination of these woods guarantees a clear sound with warm bass and great dynamic response. An ebony fingerboard is glued to the mahogany neck, which is attached to the body with a Dovetail Neck Joint at the 14th fret as standard. Orientation on the fingerboard surface is facilitated by position blocks (parallelograms).
The strings are mounted in Grover chrome Die-Cast mechanisms and an ebony fingerboard. The zero fret and compensated bone saddle guarantee ideal vibration transmission of the strings. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the burnished glossy finish of the body, decorative pickguard with motifs familiar from Hummingbird models, perimeter body trim complete with black and white lines and the company logo on the headstock.
The guitar's sound system is provided by an L.R. Baggs EAS-VTC preamp with a subwoofer piezo pickup and Volume and Tone controls subtly placed in the instrument's soundhole. The guitar comes in a handy soft case.
