Fifty years since the first product was launched, Shure is bringing a new microphone to the market with the SM7 Series. The SM7dB dynamic microphone delivers the premium sound of the SM7B enriched with a built-in active preamplifier. This is a microphone designed for singers as well as podcasters and streamers.
The integrated phantom-powered preamp offers +18 or +28 dB of pure signal gain, eliminating the need for an additional external preamp as well as all the noise that many audio interfaces produce. The Shure SM7dB is suitable for users of all experience levels - the added gain ensures that you will always be heard and the signal will be as clean as possible without distortion. In situations where you don't need the extra gain, the preamp can simply be bypassed.
The SM7dB's wide frequency response is ideal for capturing vocals, spoken word, as well as loud sound sources like percussion and amplifiers. With the same controls as the SM7B, you can apply upper midrange boost (presence boost) and bass roll-off (bass roll-off) so that the settings best suit the sound source.
The microphone's cardioid directional characteristic ensures that all off-axis ambient noise is suppressed, so your voice will be recorded in full detail and quality without any unwanted ambient noise. The microphone's pop filter and electromagnetic shielding also help to suppress any noise and hum.
Microphone impedance in preamp mode corresponds to 27 ohms, in bypass mode to 150 ohms. A foam windproof cover and 3/8" reducer are included.
