Seymour Duncan Dark Sun - Mark Holcomb Signature Delay / Reverb

Dark Sun is a signature Delay/Reverb pedal by Mark Holcomb of the American band Periphery, which will thrill all lovers of beautiful ambient guitar surfaces and guitar virtuosos who need to spice up the full hi-gain sound of their solos with a great reverb/delay.

The pedal offers a warm clean digital delay (delay time 50ms to 5 sec) and rich Hall reverb inspired by Mark's favorite sounds of the Seymour Duncan Silver Lake Dynamic Reverb and Andromeda Dynamic Delay boxes. "That's not so much for the money", you might think - but Dark Sun offers a host of other handy features and literally gadgets in addition to the standard setup controls for each of the effects (Verb - R. Size and R. Mix, Delay - Time, Feedback, D. Mix).

The Routing control allows you to change the order of the effects in the signal path as well as splitting them into two channels (LD-RR or LR-RD). The Tap Tempo function and its control by switching the pedal or using an external MIDI switch is almost a given. Dark Sun offers four rhythmic subdivisions in quarter note, eighth note with dot, eighth note and eighth note triplets intervals plus four additional delay effect modes (Pattern, Reverse, Ping Pong). The Trails function hasn't been left out either, where you can choose between a mode with natural reverberation of the effect when switching to bypass mode, or its immediate termination.

Six different functions/parameters can be assigned to the Tweak control. Using the Hi-Pass, Lo-Pass filters and Saturation function you can modify the EQ and overall character of the effects quite significantly, as well as enrich the sound of the effects with modulations (Depth, Rate, Blend) with the character of Chorus, Vibrato effects - even in a more subtle or radical form. A rather handy feature is the Dynamic Expression control, which adjusts the delay/reverb effect onset threshold depending on the dynamics and cadence of the beats - beautiful singing solos and long notes are thus supported by rich reverb/delay, while all notes within the ultra-fast guitar shred remain beautifully specific.

The traditional effects sub-category is fully replaced by a host of high-end corporate presets, where you can choose between four presets within each of the 32 banks - both with the pedal buttons and more easily, for example, with an external MIDI footswitch. The micro USB connector is used for firmware updates.
