Sequential Prophet 10 Keyboard

The Sequential Prophet-10 represents the true return of the legendary Prophet synthesizer, which literally changed the possibilities of sound production in its time.

This ten-voice version of the iconic Dave Smith Instruments-designed analogue synth represents the best of all Prophet 5 models, as it incorporates all three revisions (Rev1, Rev2 and Rev3) within its topology, using the original analogue VCO and Curtis filters (as in Rev3), as well as the new Dave Rossum-designed 2140 low-pass filters, as well as the 2040 filters he designed in the original Rev1 and Rev2. Use the Rev switch to choose between the different filter designs. The shape and response of the envelope filters also match the original Prophet Rev 1/2 and Rev 3, respectively. The result is as clean a restoration of an analog classic as you could ask for, with the authentic, bold sound of the original and in a compact, modern instrument format that's suitable for taking on the road for important tours.

Vintage sound
In order to create the Prohet-10 in the first place, the original had to be perfectly analyzed, down to the smallest detail. So you can be sure that the charm of the old vintage instrument, which had its flaws that have partly become its character, has been transferred to the modern version. Thanks to the Vintage potentiometer, you can enjoy true old school sound processing with slight fluctuations and differences in response times and frequencies of individual VCOs, filters, envelopes and amplifiers.


Poly Mod and Enhanced Unison
In addition to the unmistakable tone of the oscillators and filters, Poly Mod technology is a big part of the classic Prophet sound, and it's also represented here. True to the original, the modulation sources are Filter Envelope and Oscillator B, and the target values include the frequency of Oscillator A, the pulse width of Oscillator A, and the low pass filter. Another welcome replica is the Unison mode, which now offers a configurable number of voices (1-10 voices) with variable detuning and chord memory. Glide now works both in and out of Unison mode.

Dynamics with aftertouch
Although the challenge was to make the new Prophet as true to the original as possible, the designers couldn't resist and several modern enhancements were added to increase expressiveness, namely a dynamically sensitive keyboard with aftertouch. This allows users to function in a way the original never could.

Bi-timbral layer options and keyboard splitting
The Prophet-10 is bi-timbral, meaning it can play two different programs simultaneously. In this mode, five voices are assigned to each program. Use this ability to layer two programs for more interesting pads and chord stabs. Alternatively, divide the keyboard into two independent zones and play synth bass in the lower range and lead or chords in the upper range.

Effortless programming
The clarity of the new Prophet's sound is matched only by its simple programming. A front panel with knobs for each function gives you instant, immediate access to all the controls for shaping your sound. Turn off the Preset button to engage Live Panel mode, where the Prophet-10 switches to the current settings of its knobs and switches. What you see is exactly what you hear. Included are 200 factory programs and 200 rewritable user programs, including the original 1978 set of 40 programs that found their way onto countless recordings and movie soundtracks in their day and beyond.

Keyboard and chassis
The Prophet 10 is simply a joy and a dream come true for many players. It's no surprise, then, that you'll be able to control such a great sound with a perfect full-size, five-octave, semi-weighted Fatar keyboard in premium quality, with steel construction and a hand-stained walnut body. Each Prophet-10 contains hand-selected wood, so the grain and color can vary greatly, making each instrument unique.
