Sandberg California TM electric basses are instruments based on the time-tested Jazz Bass design concept. Like other Sandberg instruments, these are made in Germany from premium materials by a team of highly experienced guitar builders. There's really no need to worry about quality here.
The body of this bass is made from alder and given a fine relic finish, the neck is made from Canadian maple. It is screwed down with six screws, which keep it in a completely accurate position. The fingerboard is made of grained maple and features 22 frets. The gauge of the instrument is 864 millimetres.
The guitar is equipped with one humbucker and one single-coil pickup, namely the Delano JMVC and MCFE models. These offer both the standard "JB" sound and something extra, just thanks to the cob humbucker, but which can be switched to single-coil using the built-in mini switch. A volume potentiometer, Balance, passive tone shutter and active 2-band EQ can be used to adjust the sound. But the latter can be removed from the signal path using the push/pull Volume control, while the Treble control works just like Tone.
The fingerboard is typically solid with separate stones and adjustable string spacing, made by Sandberg. On the other side of the guitar we find Sandberg tuning machines.
