The design of the PRS Silver Sky electric guitar is the result of a close collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and blues-rock musician and Grammy Award winner John Mayer. It's an instrument based on his favourite elements of vintage guitars, spiced with a modern aesthetic and fretwork. In the case of the SE series, affordable to a wider range of guitarists.
The body of the PRS SE Silver Sky Rosewood Storm Gray is made of poplar. A rosewood fingerboard with twenty-two frets is glued to a bolted maple neck. The neck features the original 635JM cutaway/profile, and position markers in the form of bird silhouettes facilitate orientation around the fingerboard surface.
Three single-coil 635JM "S" pickups give the guitar a beautifully singing sound. Its character can be adjusted with two tone diaphragm potentiometers and a volume knob. The strings are mounted in a steel tremolo with two-point anchoring and vintage-style tuning mechanisms. Other specifics of the instrument include a headstock with PRS' trademark inverted design and the requisite pickguard.
The guitar comes in a gig bag.
