The PRS HDRX 20 is a lower wattage 20W tube guitar amplifier that harks back to the sound of late 60s British instruments. Specifically, the PRS HDRX 20 features a newly documented "Authentic Hendrix" touring circuit inspired by one of the Jimi Hendrix guitars that Paul Reed Smith and PRS designer Doug Sewell had the opportunity to study in 2018.
The amp's sound is bright clear, but not so much that it sounds harsh and unpleasant, while it's also possible to ease off the throttle at any time and conjure up some awesome warm tones from the PRS HDRX 20. The two 5881 end tubes were chosen for their lower power, smaller size and organic sound that goes from beautifully full and clean to natural distortion. The three-band EQ, Presence knob, and Bright and Mid-Gain switches are based on the vintage model and give guitarists the room to adjust the tone to their liking. The amp's internally linked Lead and Bass channels have separate volume controls - so you can easily adjust the distortion level and tone colour by mixing the two channels. A new feature of the HDRX series, the Master Volume control, allows you to control the output volume.
The rear panel offers outputs to external speakers (1x 4, 2x 8, 1x 8, 2x 16, 1x 16 ohm). The construction of the amplifier is covered by a black tolex.
