PRS DGT Birds Dark Cherry Sunburst

The Signature model by David Grissom, a guitarist known for his work with J. Mellencamp, the Allman Brothers and the Chicks, is the result of more than twenty years of collaboration with P. R. Smith. The design is based on the McCarthy model with changes in the form of the original DGT neck profile, longer frets (and menza) and signature pickups.

The mahogany body of the DGT Birds Dark Cherry Sunburst guitar is adorned with a figured maple top. A rosewood fingerboard with twenty-two frets is glued to the mahogany neck. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by the trademark PRS position markers in the form of mother-of-pearl bird silhouettes.

The awesome dynamic sound of the two vintage-voiced DGT signature humbuckers came from extensive testing of more than forty pickup sets and their possible combinations. The character of the sound can be adjusted with two volume potentiometers, a push/pull tone shutter and a three-position pickup switch. Pulling the tone shutter splits the pickup coils (coil-tap) and changes the full humbucker sound to single-coil.

Stable tuning is guaranteed by the Phase III Locking tuning machines with synthetic bone pegs and a mechanism that prevents unwanted string movement. Also worth mentioning is the detailed Gen III tremolo system. All the grooves and screw holes are shaped to ensure maximum contact between the individual components, or the optimum string break angle, so that even the most subtle vibrations are transmitted to the body. The stones are fixed against sideways movement, and the exact position of the vibrato lever can be adjusted with a built-in screw.

The guitar comes in a hardshell case.
