The Peavey VYPYR X guitar modelers continue the line launched in 2008 and offer an updated design and improved TransTube technology.
The Vypyr X1 is a 20 watt modeling combo that offers 36 instrument model simulations (12 instrument types, each with three channels) including six acoustic and six bass, 20 pedal effects plus bass and acoustic simulation, 16 presets in four banks, USB connector for connecting to your computer/laptop DAW, MIDI over USB and recording firmware updates, looper requiring Sansara footswitch (footswitch not included), Tap Tempo function, headphone output (can be used as a recording output) and Aux In input for playing backing tracks. All effects and simulations are accessible from the combo control panel - no pulling through software.
Peavey's TransTube technology, i.e. true analogue distortion, sounds really good, leaving the digital processor in charge of the effects section only and allowing up to five effects to run simultaneously. Emulating real electrons ensures you'll be heard in the mix - unlike many machines with digital distortion.
At the heart of the cabinet's semi-open design is a custom eight-inch speaker.
