The PDI-06 is a device that is referred to as an attenuator, power brake or power brake. It is connected between the amplifier and the speaker and is used to reduce the power of the amplifier while maintaining the desired sound characteristics of the machine running at high power. This attenuator is suitable for both live playing and studio work.
This power brake is designed so that on the front panel, in addition to the switch, you will find a 6-position switch that determines the degree of sound attenuation. The first five positions offer five levels of attenuation, each stepping by 3 decibels - this corresponds to attenuation at 70%, 50%, 35%, 25% and 18% of the original volume. The sixth position is labeled Load Box and is used to fully ultralow the volume to zero. This removes all power from the amplifier and allows you to operate it without connecting speakers.
The back of the PDI-06 contains only the necessary connectors - specifically one input connector and two output connectors for connecting speakers or speakers. It is necessary that speakers of a given impedance are connected to the Palmer PDI-06, here it is 8 Ohm. So you can use one 8 Ohm or two 16 Ohm speakers or speakers. At the same time, the Palmer can only be used with amplifiers whose power does not exceed 120 watts.
