You'll always recognize Ovation acoustic guitars at first sight. They have a typical arched body made of a special Lyrachord material. This is not only very durable, but also provides the guitar with sufficient volume and acoustic strengths. In addition, it is ergonomically shaped so that the guitar fits well in your hand.
The front plate of the 1868TX-5-G from the Mod TX Collection series is made of solid Sitka spruce of AA quality. The resonance of the top is enhanced by the placement and shape of the sound holes and the reduced X-type front plate ribbing. The rest of the body is an arched narrow body (Super Shallow) made of hi-tech Lyrachord material, which maximizes volume and all positive acoustic phenomena.
Another interesting feature is the bevelled fingerboard design, which offers seventeen frets on the thickest bass string, while five more frets are available on the thinnest string. The strings themselves are held in a pau ferro wood fingerboard and enclosed company die-cast mechanicals with black tuning pegs.
The guitar is equipped with an OP-PRO preamp with three-band EQs, a button for quick sound adjustment and a built-in tuner.
