Midas DP48

The Midas DP48 is a dual personal monitoring console with 48 channels, SD card recording, built-in stereo microphone and remote power. The DP48 represents a new concept in personal monitoring and allows two performers to fully control their monitor mix and hear exactly what they want. The resulting stereo sound can be recorded to an SD card. With a simple and intuitive interface and the ability to connect to any AES50 equipped device, the DP48 can create a complete monitoring system ideal for use in the studio or on stage.

The DP48 provides complete control over the monitoring mix with twelve stereo groups, with equalization and compression options to quickly create and balance your listening experience. All 48 channels can be mixed within these groups. For example, vocalists can place vocals in Group 1, while drums, bass and guitar channels can be placed in Groups 2,3 and 4. Drummers who have more demanding monitoring needs for their own kit can create more complex listening mixes with the DP48 and independently mix kick, snare and hi-hat for example. The built-in stereo ambient microphone provides sound from the stage that can then be added to the overall mix, helping to get rid of the feeling of isolation that comes with in-ear monitoring.

The dual mix function allows two users to connect to one DP48, each with their own separate group stereo mix. Three dedicated controls are provided for each of the Mix A and B outputs, allowing independent adjustment of the respective output volume, selected group level and assignable My Group Level. Both main mixes feature separately adjustable EQ, Reverb and Limiter levels - this is particularly useful if each user uses different headphones for monitoring. There are two stereo headphone outputs (6.3 mm jack) and two mono line outputs (6.3 mm jack). The AUX input is intended for e.g. connecting a metronome, audio from a computer, etc.

Each DP48 device can be remotely powered via a direct AES50 connection to the Midas HUB4 with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability. Power can also be supplied directly via a DC adapter. All 44.1/48kHz AES50 devices including Midas and Behringer digital consoles and I/O boxes are compatible with the DP48, and input channel designation transfer, including color resolution, also works. AES50 return channels also allow you to send personal mixes from the DP48 back to the console or hub for connection to wireless IEM transmitters. When connected to a Midas hub, the DP48 can be set up and controlled remotely from the mixing console. The Midas M32 4.0 firmware update supports full configuration of mixer channel labeling and group names directly from the console user interface.
