The "S" series instruments are made of solid, beautifully figured maple wood used as standard for the soundboard, neck and sides. High quality spruce wood for the top and select ebony for the fingerboard, pegs and chin. Wittner strings make it easy to fine tune the tone. The instruments are hand lacquered with an alcohol varnish in shades of amber. The use of French Aubert locusts accentuates the high quality of the instruments. Great sound is also guaranteed by the For-Tune Charm) strings, which offer a fast response and a pleasantly warm and round tone.
The Martin W. Placht trademark was created to unite violin makers in the West Bohemia region. The instruments bearing this name are made as in the old days when several violin makers were involved in the production of one instrument at the same time. Different parts of the production are divided into a whole group of violin makers to achieve the highest quality and efficiency. Martin W. Placht himself was a great violin maker and musical instrument dealer in the region. He practiced a similar system of making stringed musical instruments and put a lot of people to work. This is one of the reasons why the Violin-Rácz brand decided to name these instruments after him.
