Martin OMJM John Mayer

Electro-Acoustic Guitar / HN178343
The American singer, songwriter and guitarist John Mayer is one of the outstanding figures of contemporary blues. The OMJM John Mayer orchestra-type electroacoustic guitar is the second collaboration of this personality with the Martin brand, following on from the previous OM-28JM limited edition model. The aim was to create an instrument in the tradition of the popular 000-28EC Eric Clapton guitar, i.e. a worldwide and more affordable model while maintaining the utmost precision craftsmanship and high quality of the components used. This beautiful instrument is sure to appeal to players with high standards, i.e. professionals seamlessly transitioning between musical genres, as well as enthusiastic collectors.

The front of the guitar is made of solid North American spruce (Engelmann spruce), the back and sides of solid Indian rosewood. This combination of woods gives the instrument great sound projection, tonal articulation and balance across the frequency spectrum. Scalloped X-type ribbing with lowered ribs in the middle gives the guitar a rich, colorful sound that works beautifully in jazz/blues/folk or pop styles.

The select hardwood neck, which is attached to the body at the 14th fret as standard, features a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. Mother-of-pearl markings make the fingerboard easy to navigate, which you'll appreciate when performing in backlit environments. A TUSQ composite saddle seated on an ebony fingerboard gives the strings, along with a bone fretboard, great resonance and sustain. A tortoiseshell pickguard protects the guitar's lacquer from scratches caused by pick playing. The final look of the instrument is accentuated by the nickel tuning mechanisms and the imitation ivory binding.

The guitar is equipped with a Fishman Gold Plus Natural I piezo pickup placed in the instrument's soundboard with simple Volume/Tone rotary knobs.

The American Martin company, founded in 1833, is quite deservedly one of the biggest and most respected names in stringed instruments. For decades, it has been one of the leading innovators in guitar design and manufacturing technology. However, to use only the past tense would be a great mistake; instruments with the Martin logo are still today among the guarantees of the highest quality in craftsmanship and sound. In addition, their current products use "eco-friendly" components made from renewable resources and composite materials. We find it completely unnecessary to mention the performers who use these instruments in this context - also, we guess, you don't bring wood to the forest.
