The Standard Series line of the American Martin brand offers all-massive acoustic guitars made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, that carry the pure Martin DNA and the brand's nearly two-century-long legacy. You'll recognize the instruments in this series by their solid bodies made from premium materials such as genuine mahogany, and details such as the traditional Dovetail Neck Joint, reduced X ribbing, Antique White binding and open tuning machines.

The D-28 Dreadnought is one of Martin's true flagship acoustic guitars. Its sound and playability have been loved by many players across musical genres, i.e. Hank Williams Sr. and Jimmy Page. The front of the guitar is made from Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are made from Indian rosewood. This combination of woods gives the instrument great sound projection, tonal articulation and balance across the frequency spectrum. The resonance of the soundboard and the overall good acoustic properties of the guitar are enhanced by the special X-ribbing (Forward-Shifted X-Brace).

A select hardwood neck, which is attached to the body at the fourteenth fret as standard, is joined by a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. Mother-of-pearl markings make the fingerboard easy to navigate, which you'll certainly appreciate when performing in backlit environments. A compensated bone saddle set on an ebony fingerboard gives the strings, along with a bone fretboard, great resonance and sustain. A tortoiseshell imitation pickguard protects the guitar's lacquer from scratches caused by pick playing. The final look of the instrument is accentuated by chrome tuning machines and white binding.
