The SRM series speakers were the first active speakers in the Mackie range that could be described as portable. Thanks to their great sound, their technical parameters and their affordable price, they immediately gained enormous popularity. Today, the first generation of SRMs is slowly being replaced by the second, labeled V2, which takes the capabilities of these boxes even further.
The SRM150 is a mobile loudspeaker that includes a 3-channel mixer that offers a 3-band equalizer on each channel. Two channels also contain high quality microphone preamps and phantom power, also features an instrument input which eliminates the need for a DI box. On the third channel there is a stereo input for external devices such as mp3 or CD players, a Line-In for adding another input and an XLR Thru connector for connecting another box or sending the signal directly to the PA.
This box is capable of delivering a peak power of 150 watts, or about 100W RMS, which is turned into sound by a 5.25-inch diameter neodymium speaker. It operates in a frequency range of 100 to 17,500 Hz and achieves a sensitivity of 120 dB SPL.
Among the SRM's "goodies" are a built-in limiter protecting the entire system, an aluminum heat sink, and the ability to mount a microphone stand directly into the SRM. The speaker cabinet is made of durable polypropylene.
