The VC series is a series offering more vintage-oriented combos, which is of course combined with modern technology and wider sound possibilities. The result is an instrument that will not be lost in any musical trend. These all-tube machines will offer you a very high quality, classically coloured sound that covers a wide tonal spectrum, from a clean sound like a Vox AC30 to a beautifully lively distortion suitable for blues or rock. If you think that perhaps a combo is not enough, the VC series also offers external speakers that really let what is hidden in these machines shine through
Specifically, the VC 30-212 is a full-range, Class A speaker that can deliver up to 30W of power. Inside are four EL84 power tubes and three ECC83 preamp tubes. Two 12-inch Seventy 80 speakers from the renowned Celestion company take care of transforming the power into sound.
If you look at the control panel, you will find two inputs for your guitar. This is so that the unit works optimally with instruments with passive and active pickups. The controls are pretty standard - Clean Vol for adjusting the volume of the clean sound, Drive Vol and Drive for adjusting the distortion and volume of the distortion channel, and the common Bass, Mid, Treble, Reverb and Effects Level controls for adjusting the level of the effects loop. In addition, there is a Bright switch for brightening or sharpening the sound.
Then on the rear panel you'll find the usual elements, namely the effects loop input and output, a dual footswitch input for switching channels and turning off reverb, and two speaker jacks where internal speakers are connected as standard. It is possible to switch between a total load of 8 or 4 Ohms, with the impedance of the internal speakers being 8 Ohms each.
The Laney VC30 is a very interesting combo for any fan of live tube tone. Maybe small, maybe simple, but all the more handy apparatus.
