The KORG SV-2 Stage Vintage combines legendary sound, unique stage experience and the aesthetic satisfaction of so many diverse classical keyboards in one instrument like no instrument before it.
A decade ago, KORG introduced the Stage Vintage series of stage keyboards with extraordinary success. The combination of an intuitive control panel, premium keyboards, superior processing of the sought-after sounds of vintage keyboards, the clarity of sound of world-class grand pianos, the warm tone, the typical character of the period's effects, and the unmistakable design has inspired musicians around the world for more than a decade. The SV-2 models, in 88- or 73-key versions, are the latest additions to the Stage Vintage series and feature more of everything that makes the SV series special. More sounds, more memory, more polyphony, more presets, more controls. It's practically everything a concert player could want from a stage piano ... and a little more. Be sure to pay attention to the SV-2S models equipped with the K-ARRAY internal sound system.
More ... more ... more ... more ... The SV-2 has more than ten times the sound sample memory size of previous SV series models, providing plenty of room for a multitude of brand new piano and keyboard sounds. The SV-2 contains 72 authentic sounds and has 64 memory locations for storing customized Favorites for instant access during your performance. With the SV-2 editor, users can now create their own split and layered programs and save them to one of the Favorites. One Favorite allows access to three sounds at once, for example, a split piano/bass with an underlying layer of strings. Splits and layers must be pre-made by the user in the editor, but the split point can be changed at any time in the instrument panel. The SV-2's polyphony has grown to 128 voices, allowing for more efficient layering of sounds, or long reverberation of even the most complex chords and runs.
Faithful sound reproduction The SV-2 represents the pinnacle of sampling technology and careful preparation of the instrument before sampling. It delivers an exciting and accurate interpretation of a large number of classic keyboard instruments. Using only the best prepared instruments and the latest multi-microphone sound sampling methods, we have captured every detail of the sound with the utmost precision. The strike on the stick of an electrophone piano, the release of the hammer, the clicks of the organ contacts - every detail is perfectly captured in the RX layer. Mix in as much, or as little, of these authentic artifacts as you need. The SV-2 faithfully preserves the full dynamic range of the original instrument by reconstructing in detail every change in tone character and dynamics, from the delicate touch of the PPP (pianississimo) to the powerful punch of the FFF (fortississimo) and everything in between. This detailed sampling method creates a three-dimensional sense of presence that makes the sound fill its place perfectly in the mix or concert space.
Sought-after classics Discover a treasure trove of classic electro-mechanical, transistor, tape, analogue and digital keyboards, reproduced with stunning realism. These sounds have defined decades of popular music and are still in demand today.
In the SV-2, you have all the sounds of these sought-after instruments at your fingertips, perfectly tuned and in perfect condition, with no maintenance required. Among electrophonic pianos you will now find almost all American tine and reed models, the Japanese electric grand, as well as the rare German electrophonic piano. And then all those clavinets, in every conceivable sound variation. Do you prefer electronic pianos? Analog, digital, VPM, FM, and sample versions are available, including the formerly popular Korg M1 piano. Looking for an organ? Choose a tonewheel classical, VOX combo organ, Italian transistor organ, American tube organ, or church and cathedral organ models. Need some strings? There are analog instruments from the 70's, sounds created by playing tape recordings from the progressive rock era, or authentic orchestral sections. In addition, the SV-2 features Mallett, brass sections and choirs, guitar and bass sounds, and solo and pad synths that are perfect for layering or splitting sounds.
Many pianos The SV-2 is primarily a concert grand piano. At the touch of a button, you can choose from the most amazing concert grand sounds from around the world from top German, Italian and Japanese manufacturers. For a more intimate sound, choose some of the authentic Japanese and German pianos. Real honky-tonk pianos and authentic prepared pianos are also available. Last but not least, the SV-2 includes two perfect Harpsichords, a French and an Italian. Whether you use them solo, layered with a different sound or split along the keyboard, these exceptional pianos offer an excellent foundation and a multitude of variations for your creations.
Take control The SV-2 puts you in control of your sound. There's no LCD display or menu to delve into. The intuitive and friendly control panel is always active. So don't wait, grab the knob, turn it, adjust the sound, experiment! Changed your mind? Press the button and the instrument is back to its original settings. The button LEDs indicate whether the effect is on, the sound transposed, etc. Select sounds using a pair of rotary switches. Eight illuminated center-panel buttons allow you to quickly select from 64 favorite presets, each containing your own sounds and instrument settings. The SV-2 now also offers a panel lock feature to prevent you from accidentally switching sounds should you inadvertently touch one of the Favorites buttons while playing, or should someone's curious fingers attempt to switch settings between performances. The free SV-2 editor gives you the ability to set all the feature parameters in detail from the comfort of your computer.
Agility and expressiveness All SV-2 series instruments feature the Korg RH3 precision hammer-action keyboard. The weight of the keys varies along the keyboard like a concert grand piano. Heavier in the lower registers and progressively easier towards the upper registers. The RH3 keyboard is remarkably sensitive to the nuances of playing, conveying every expressive element of the playing accurately. You can choose from eight distinct dynamic curves to tailor the keyboard's response to your style and playing technique. The SV-2 is authentic in every detail. It has eight tunings including tempered, grand piano stretch, electric piano stretch, electric grand, upright stretch, detuned and two user-definable tunings (using the free SV-2 editor). The overall tuning of the SV-2 can be adjusted to match the tuning of another instrument or recording. Needless to say, the SV-2 can be made to any key.
Authenticity in every detail Using the right authentic effects gives the sound of a vintage instrument crown, luster and sonic refinement. The SV-2 has six independent studio-quality effects circuits, the highlight of which is the KORG Valve Reactor. The Valve Reactor circuit adds the velvety warmth and characteristic distortion of a real 12AX7A tube to the sound. As with the sounds, all effect models are faithful to the originals and are designed to match the sonic character and limits to the natural behavior of the chosen effect. Effects:
- 3-band EQUALIZER (bass, mids and treble) - PRE FX (Red Compressor, Treble Boost, U-Vibe, Vibrato, Tremolo, VOX Wah) - AMP MODEL (Clean, Twin, Tweed, AC30, Boutique, Organ, plus several types of speaker simulators and noise reduction) - MODULATION FX (Classic Chorus, Black Chorus, Orange Phaser, Small Phaser, MX Flanger, Rotary) - REVERB/DELAY (Room, Plate, Hall, Spring, Tape Echo and Stereo Delay) - LIMITER (Stereo Limiter, Stereo Mastering Limiter)
Easy to use and simple to operate. These vintage effects and amp models give authenticity to your sound requirements in both vintage and modern categories.
Modern connections The SV-2 has all the audio jacks, data connections, and pedal ports that all of today's professional stage pianos should have. In addition to the left and right 1/4" audio outputs, it has left and right XLR outputs for plugging into a studio mix or stage box without the need to modify the signal with an external Di box or impedance matching transformers. The headphone output allows for audio monitoring on stage or discreet rehearsal in private. The five-pin MIDI In and MIDI Out DIN connectors easily connect to other MIDI instruments and musical equipment, and the USB port provides a data connection between the SV-2 and a computer.
Connectors for 3 pedals are available: Damper, Pedal 1 and Pedal 2. The DS-2H Damper pedal is included with the instrument and provides an authentic piano response with its Half-pedaling function. The Pedal 1 input is for a pedal switch and can optionally serve as a Sostenuto pedal, or if the Rotary Pro effect is on, as a speed switch. The Pedal 2 input can optionally operate either on a potentiometer principle as an authentic WAH effect or organ volume control, or as an additional switch to provide piano purists with a third piano pedal "UNA Corda" (Soft) function.
SV-2S with internal speaker system Enjoy the sound, look and performance of the Korg SV-2 everywhere you go. KORG has collaborated with Italian speaker developers K-ARRAY to create the amazing SV-2S. In addition to all the features found in the SV-2, the SV-2S includes a built-in speaker system. Backstage in a dressing room, dorm room or dorm room, at a musical, choir, stage or dance rehearsal, from the living room to the concert hall or church, the SV-2S is ready to deploy whenever and wherever you are. 2x15 watts of power (left and right channels), the internal system includes two 2.5" drivers and a 3" passive radiator. Available with 73 or 88 keys, the SV-2S has an exclusive ivory-colored pleasing finish with contrasting fabric on the speaker grilles.
Free SV-2 Editor Despite the SV-2's wealth of features, the SV-2 Editor (which is available as a free download for Windows or Mac) provides a convenient and easy way to edit sounds, organize, catalog and save your edited sounds as Favorites for the SV-2. In addition, the SV-2 editor offers access to hundreds of additional sounds that are not immediately available in the control panel. The SV-2 editor also makes it easy to set up split/layer type Favorites and store them in memory. The SV-2 editor provides access to a comprehensive library of additional sounds that KORG is constantly updating so you can refresh your personal sound catalog. With the editor, you can exchange sounds with other users for free.
