Korg Opsix SE

Limited edition Synthesizer / HN258888
KORG opsix SE is a digital synthesizer that represents the perfect combination of power and performance. It is the successor to the successful opsix model, with which it shares all the basic functions, but greatly expands its overall sonic capabilities.

The Operator Mixer section simplifies FM synthesis and makes it not only understandable but also controllable - a simple set of six faders and potentiometers encourages you to find the right sound. Each section glows red to indicate carrier frequencies or blue for modulators. Manipulating the faders opens up new possibilities for shaping your sound, breathing new life into your ideas. This straightforward, hands-on workflow is part of what makes the opsix SE so unique, as are the sounds it offers. With the addition of more synthesis and programming options, it offers a more efficient workflow and an even richer sound. The opsix SE features a premium 61-key keyboard with natural response, complete with aftertouch functionality. The keyboard delivers the superior playability you expect from Korg's flagship workstations. With a sleek and robust metal body, the opsix SE is made for both intense live performances and precise studio work. The metal knobs are optimally balanced for easy setup. Beneath its exterior, the opsix SE boasts an incredible 80 stereo voices of polyphony.

The opsix SE comes preloaded with hundreds of sounds enhanced for aftertouch control. Plus, it is fully compatible with sounds and samples from both opsix original and opsix Native software, including many high-quality libraries. Whether you're editing one of the presets or creating a sound from scratch, the six data entry knobs on the right side give you quick access to the parameters you need and sync seamlessly with the data on the large OLED display, so you also have visual control of your workflow. Choose from a range of analogue-style filters, from the radical low-pass/hi-pass filter of the Korg MS-20 to the powerful but smooth KORG Polysix low-pass filter that adds a vintage touch to your sound. Also available are 2-pole or 4-pole low-pass/high-pass filters and band-reject filters with resonance. There's even a built-in spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope that gives you visual feedback via the screen.

Because waveforms can be arranged and modulated in an almost infinite number of ways, the opsix SE can easily perform audio work that is similar to many types of synthesis, such as:
subtractive - removing parts of the sound to get the desired sound; the most widely used synthesis. opsix uses up to six envelopes and multi-modelled filters to achieve many of the peak and classic tones of analogue synthesis
Semi-modular - redirecting signal paths to change the sound. Flipping the Alogorithm section dramatically reshapes the sound by changing the way the signal is routed between operators that work together, and you don't need any patch cables to do it.
Analog (modeling) - Analog-style controls and lots of stackable waveforms take you from digital to analog-sounding in a flash. Enjoy deep bass, crisp leads, thick pad sounds, fuzzy breath tones and much more.
Waveshaping - by adding intentional distortion to the waveforms, you achieve aggressive undertones that are either harmonic or inharmonic. This helps you achieve harsh assertive tones that make you feel character.
Additive - composing waveforms and blending their harmonic frequencies is the key to a vast array of harmonic and dissonant sounds. With six available operators, a complete FM experience is possible, including the ability to go back in time for classic sounds heard on a variety of recordings.
Classic FM - Last but not least, opsix is a very flexible and powerful architecture that starts with true FM with six operators. This makes it easy to deliver the characteristic sounds you've surely heard on thousands of hit records from the 80s to the present day, with far more polyphony than other standalone FM synthesizers available today.

The opsix SE offers three effect blocks and 30 types of high-resolution effects that you can use together to enhance your sounds even further. You'll find everything from a great mix of usable standard effects such as chorus, phaser, delay and compressor, to premium shimmering reverbs that take your sound to an even higher level.

The instrument is equipped with an incredible step sequencer that rivals groove boxes in its flexibility and power. Press the PLAY button on any sound and experience the complexity of the sequences! Each program has its own unique sequence stored, but you can create your own at any time. You can record up to six notes per step and adjust each note's velocity and playback timing. Create long phrases or make subtle shifts in timing to mimic strings or live drums, which is not possible with a typical 16-step sequencer. The sequencer also lets you record changes to up to six parameters, creating smooth automated movements of sound within a phrase or build rhythms that change dramatically with each step.

The modulation capabilities of the opsix SE are truly astounding. With six operator modes and 40 preset algorithms, plus the ability to create your own, opsix SE offers you dynamic sonic possibilities. This synthesis is an extension of the processors that are at the end of the signal chain. The MOD section operates separately from the operators, with three EGs, three LFOs and 12 virtual patches for a wide range of routing options. Use these features to get a huge range of modulations for creating swirling soundscapes or adding rhythmic movement to your sounds.

If you're in the mood for unexpected sonic discoveries, use the Randomize function. Press the button marked with the cube icon to completely change the synth's parameters and create a new, unique sound. You can use the Randomize function for all parameters or just for operators, algorithms, or sequences.

The opsix Sound Librarian application allows you to view and organize data on an opsix SE connected to a computer via USB and transfer sound data between the opsix SE and the computer. The synthesizer comes with a variety of music software from Izotope, including "Ozone Elements", which allows you to not only create songs, but also control them using artificial intelligence. There's "Skoove" tutorial software to help you improve your keyboard skills, as well as synth software from KORG and other brands.

Opsix SE comes in a special hard case including space for cables and a sustain pedal. So your instrument can travel protected, whether you're carrying it to rehearsal or packing it for touring.
