The new Responsive Hammer Compact II (RHC II) was developed to convey the tactile feel of a real acoustic piano. The weight of the keyboard is appropriately graduated to reflect the heavier bass and lighter treble hammers of acoustic pianos, with a smooth matte texture applied to each black and white key for improved playability. As with other Kawai digital piano keyboards, the Responsive Hammer Compact II uses triple-sensor hammer speed detection and features springless mechanics to ensure a smooth and natural piano playing experience. Despite its lightweight and compact design, the RHC II's mechanics allow experienced pianists to play fortissimo with power and confidence while gently controlling even the most delicate and subtle pianissimo passages. The keyboard uses a precision key detection system with three sensors for enhanced playing realism. The addition of a third sensor improves the response when the same key is played repeatedly and, unlike conventional sensor mechanics found in most portable pianos, allows the sound of a single note to be "layered" successively without losing the previous note. In addition, Kawai's action technology also monitors the speed at which each key is lifted, which affects the character of the piano sounds produced and provides a greater range of expression between staccato and legato playing.

The ES520 digital piano captures the rich, expressive sound of Kawai SK-EX and EX pianos, with all 88 keys of these exceptional instruments carefully recorded, analyzed and faithfully reproduced using Progressive Harmonic Imaging™ sound technology. This unique process accurately reproduces the wide dynamic range of the original pianos and provides pianists with an extraordinary level of expressiveness. The instrument's built-in Virtual Technician feature allows you to shape the various characteristics of these acoustic piano sounds at the touch of a button, and the settings allow you to adjust the resonance of the strings and the valves in addition to the subtle sounds of the hammer, damper and key release. This personalized piano sound is further enhanced with atmospheric reverb effects that bring out the piano's rich, vibrant tone with breathtaking realism and authenticity.

Further complementing the realistic timbres of acoustic pianos, the ES520 also offers a rich selection of other instruments, from electric pianos, to stroke and church organs, to string, choral and mallet instruments, allowing musicians to add variety to their performances. In addition, Dual playing mode allows you to layer two different sounds, such as piano and strings, while Split and Four Hands modes split the keyboard into two independent sections. The volume balance for each playing mode can also be quickly and easily adjusted using the panel's real-time controls. For inspiration or improvisation, you can use the rhythm section function to play including accompaniment.

A music stand, power adapter and F-10H damper pedal are also included.
