The X series of the American brand Jackson is a mid-range electric guitar with a typical corporate design and great playing characteristics, but still at a relatively affordable price. Specifically, the MF-1 is the signature model in the single cut (Monarkh/LP) design of American guitarist Marty Friedman, known for his work in the American metal formation Megadeth, the pure shredding duo Cacophony and his solo work.
The body of the guitar is composed of a solid mahogany base and a 2 cm thick maple top, which is decorated with black gloss lacquer and white binding. A one-piece mahogany neck with graphite bracing is glued to a fig fingerboard fitted with twenty-two jumbo-sized frets. Orientation on the fingerboard surface is facilitated by position blocks made of imitation mother-of-pearl.
Two active signature Marty Friedman humbuckers with Alnico V magnets from the renowned EMG brand provide the instrument with the necessary punch, sound articulation and perfect dynamic response. Two volume potentiometers, two tone controls and a three-position pickup switch are used for sonic adjustments. Precise tuning and good sustain are ensured by the string attachment via a fully adjustable compensated bridge (TOM style) in the strings and the company's lockable Die-Cast drives.
For several decades, electric guitars from the American brand Jackson have appealed primarily to musicians from metal, metal/core, HC or djent bands who profess a loud sound with a more or less diluted dose of aggression, as evidenced by the company's list of players. However, the radical metal design can also enchant adventurous musicians from the completely opposite musical spectrum, as evidenced, for example, by Nai Palm of Hiatus Kaiyote, who in turn clearly prove that the sound of Jackson instruments can make its way into genres built on a clean, warm, sound.
