Jackson's history dates back to the 1970s and intersects with the turbulent rise of hard music styles rooted in metal. Metal players immediately took to these instruments and to this day Jackson guitars are designed especially for them. Legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne) has a hand in this, as he and Jackson designers drew the Concorde guitar design on a paper napkin in the early 1980s, redefining the look of the metal guitar forever.

The JS guitars are entry-level models, and players especially appreciate their excellent price/performance ratio. With these parameters, it's no wonder.

This guitar features a mahogany body in a natural finish that is elegantly arched on the top. The maple neck is bolted to the body and has graphite bracing inside for added durability. The neck profile corresponds to dimensions of 1.92 cm at the 3rd fret and 2.07 cm at the 12th fret.

Twenty-four jumbo-sized frets are found on the fingerboard, and the combined radius flattens from twelve inches to sixteen inches towards the body. It is therefore suitable for fast playing and alternating riffs with melodic flourishes in the higher positions. The positions are

are marked with faux mother-of-pearl "shark fins". The surface of the neck is semi-gloss.

The sound is handled by a pair of high-output Jackson humbuckers, a three-position toggle switch and volume and tone controls. The tone is thus not only dense, but highly variable.

The strings pass through the body via a single-turn tremolo (2 Point Fulcrum) and on the other side end up in Jackson's enclosed die-piece drives.
