Studio microphone quality

It's not true that the best acoustic reproduction of guitar sound can only be achieved by placing a high-end condenser studio microphone in the exact position directly in front of the guitar. The iRig Acoustic, together with the AmpliTube Acoustic, is designed to perfectly replicate the ideal microphone placement and accurately capture the full frequency range, sonic character, complex harmonic spectrum and sonic overtones of an acoustic guitar. It achieves this by using a superbly designed microphone housing and the latest MEMS (Micro Electronic Mechanical System) technology, omnidirectional characteristic, positioning the microphone in the guitar's acoustic hole where the optimal sound output is very detailed and concentrated, and also by using a "calibration" process that optimizes the guitar sound to sound just like it does when captured with a high-quality studio microphone. Together, these technologies capture the "complete picture" of an acoustic guitar - all the vibrations and sonic interactions - as opposed to a piezoelectric or electromagnetic pickup, which just capture either the vibrations of the guitar body or just the vibrations of the strings. The iRig Acoustic delivers a pure and full rendition of the tonal characteristics of the acoustic guitar.



MEMS

The iRig Acoustic uses a MEMS microphone to achieve a truly amazing acoustic sound. MEMS (Micro Electronic Mechanical System) is a cutting edge microphone technology - you probably use this technology without knowing it, as many smartphones use this technology. These microphones are very efficient and offer excellent reliability and sensing quality. They provide a very accurate and flat frequency response while being resistant to mechanical vibrations that produce unwanted sounds, thus providing a clear and open sound.



Easy installation

The iRig Acoustic is very easy to install (or remove) on any acoustic guitar without having to change anything on the instrument. Simply clip it onto the edge of the acoustic hole and you're ready to go. Because it can be clipped on and off so quickly and easily, you can use iRig Acoustic on all of your acoustics during the same performance or recording session.



Truly mobile

What makes iRig Acoustic truly unique is the fact that it delivers studio-quality sound while allowing players to move freely around the stage or studio without creating feedback or changing the character of the sound. This is virtually impossible with traditional microphone capture techniques.



Headphones and output

Design

Mac computers

Most computers from 2008-2013 are compatible except for the Mac Pro series. There are issues with the 2014 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models, as well as the latest 2013 iMac models, which are not compatible.
