The signature model of Tim Henson's Ibanez TOD10N-TKF from the American progressive formation Polyphia is an unusual classical electroacoustic guitar combining the worlds of electric and classical guitars.
The basis of the sound is a narrow, compact body based on the Ibanez FR semi-hollowbody models. The front of the guitar is made of solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are made of laminated sapele. The soundhole in the back of the guitar (Side Sound Port) allows you to better perceive and hear the pure acoustic tone of the instrument, the guitar is also much less susceptible to feedback. The sound quality is enhanced by traditional fan bracing.
The nyatoh neck is glued to a walnut fingerboard with twenty-two frets. The narrower zero fret and flatter fretboard radius offer easier matching and good playability even for musicians accustomed to the dimensions of electric guitars. The fingerboard surface is decorated with a pearl "Tree of Death" inlay. The strings are anchored in traditional "slotted" mechanics in gold finish and walnut fingerboard. The beautiful workmanship is accentuated by the double-sided imitation mother-of-pearl body binding.
The sound system features a Fishman Sonicore sub-coil piezo pickup and Ibanez AEQ210TF active electronics with a two-band EQ and built-in tuner in the back of the guitar.
