Electric guitars from the RG series of the Japanese brand Ibanez are among the most famous instruments of this type. Their flatter, faster neck, lighter weight and distinctive cutouts with stylishly pointed horns for easy movement across the entire fingerboard are the reasons for their extraordinary popularity among rock and metal guitarists.
The body of the eight-string RG8 is made of meranti. A five-piece maple and walnut neck is glued to a jatoba fingerboard, also known as Brazilian cherry, with twenty-four jumbo frets. Orientation is traditionally facilitated by white position dots. The longer neck gauge is particularly suitable for lower tunings
Two IBZ-8 passive corporate humbuckers with ceramic magnets give this eight-string guitar a deep, clearly articulated tone. Volume potentiometers, tone controls and a three-position pickup switch are used for standard sound adjustments.
