The Ibanez GRG7221-BKF seven-string electric guitar is part of the GIO series, which offers affordable instruments suitable for beginners. It is a Super ST RG model with a flatter neck, lighter weight and distinctive body cutouts tailored for aspiring rock and metal guitarists.
The body of the guitar is made of poplar. The maple neck is glued to a purpleheart/amaranth wood fingerboard fitted with twenty-four jumbo-sized frets. White position dots on the fingerboard make it easy to find your way around.
Two Infinity R passive humbuckers with ceramic magnets give the guitar a juicy dynamic sound that doesn't lose concreteness even in high-gain distortion settings. The character of the sound can be adjusted using the volume and tone diaphragm potentiometers and a five-position switch that offers split-coil pickup configurations at positions 2 and 4. So you can change the full humbucker sound to single-coil by flipping the switch.
The strings are mounted in the company's tuning machines and through the F107 seven-saddle through-body bridge. Many will also appreciate the mono-unit output jack made from a single piece of durable material, thus avoiding the usual effect of individual parts coming loose and losing contact.
