The Ibanez GRG121PAR-KBF electric guitar is part of the GIO series, which offers affordable instruments suitable for beginning players. It is a Super ST RG model with a flatter neck, lighter weight and distinctive body cutouts tailored for aspiring rock and metal guitarists.
The exotic okoumé body features a Poplar Burl Art Grain Basswood top and Deep Dust Burst Flat finish. The maple neck is glued to a purpleheart/amaranth fingerboard with twenty-four Medium frets. Position markers in the Sharktooth design facilitate orientation on the fingerboard.
Two IBZ passive humbuckers with ceramic magnets give the guitar the necessary sonic punch. The character of the sound can be adjusted using the volume potentiometers, the tone shutter and the five-position switch (position 2 plays only the inner neck pickup coil, position 4 the inner neck pickup coil and the outer neck pickup coil).
The strings are mounted in the company's tuning machines and through the F106 six-saddle through-body bridge. Many will also appreciate the mono-unit output jack made from a single piece of durable material, thus avoiding the usual effect of individual parts coming loose and losing contact.
