Ibanez BTB805MS TGF (opened)

This instrument falls under the BTB series offering one of the traditional forms of Ibanez basses. In 2008, this line has gone through several changes to offer the absolute maximum. The characteristics of these instruments are certainly the solid body with two distinctive cutouts that allow perfect accessibility to all positions, the solid neck that contributes to perfect tuning stability, the careful selection of the woods and hardware used, the state-of-the-art approach to the construction of the instrument and, most importantly, the magnificent sound.

The body of this bass is made of a combination of ash and okoume, which gives the instrument a clear and dense sound with great sustain. The top of the instrument is decorated with a spectacular top veneer of poplar burl. The neck consists of five pieces of maple and walnut, and is equipped with a panga panga wood fingerboard, graphite bracing and 24 stainless steel medium frets. Its through-hole construction also adds sustain to the instrument and provides convenient access to the higher positions on the fingerboard. Another clear hallmark of this bass is the multiscale construction - or variable gauge - in the 889-940 mm range, which ensures the strings have ideal tension even when the instrument is tuned.

The instrument is equipped with two passive humbucker pickups, specifically a pair of T1 models. These pickups feature a pair of individually wound coils that are capable of delivering thick bass with great response, punchy midrange frequencies and beautifully clear highs. The already wide sonic palette is then expanded, for example, by the ability to adjust the pitch for each coil, allowing you to fine-tune your sound to perfection. The edges of the pickups are then rounded so that they can be comfortably used as a thumb rest.

To fine-tune your sound, you can use the Ibanez Custom active electronics, which are designed to provide an incredibly wide range of sonic possibilities, as well as simple control. As well as the traditional volume and balance controls, this also gives you a three-band EQ with adjustable centre frequencies that can be removed from the signal path using a mini toggle switch.

An MR5S type headstock with separate stones allows you to adjust the string spacing within +/- 1.5mm, and the instrument is also equipped with a lockable Neutrik connector for optimal signal transfer.
