With a careful selection of woods and hardware, a state-of-the-art approach to construction and a great sound, the BTB series offers one of the traditional forms of Ibanez basses. Its typical features include a solid body with two deep cutouts composed of three types of woods and a massive through neck. If you're looking for a superbly crafted instrument made from premium materials and at an affordable price, the BTB will be the right choice.
The body of this bass from the BTB Standard series is composed of two mahogany wings, which are covered by a walnut and ash top. The through-neck, glued together from nine pieces of maple, Panga Panga and walnut, is reinforced with graphite and delivers long sustain and a stable tone. The Brazilian Jatoba cherry wood fingerboard is trimmed with 24 stainless steel frets, plus a zero-fret that keeps the string height above the other frets to a minimum and is also prized for intonation and sound. Specific hardware features of BTB basses include enclosed tuning machines, a safety-locked input jack and a unique split Mono-Rail fingerboard, ensuring maximum vibration transfer to each string within the body of the instrument.
Bartolini's BH2 two-coil pickups deliver solid lows, punchy mids and an overall balanced tone on all strings. The three-band active electronics are complemented by a three-position center frequency switch (700 Hz, 450 Hz, 250 Hz), which are a very important element in any bass guitar to set the desired sound character.
