Its typical features include a solid body with two deep cutouts composed of three types of woods and a massive through neck. The body of this bass from the Premium series is composed of two ash wood wings that cover a top made of richly decorated bubinga wood, which is also used for the back of the instrument. The through-neck is glued from a nine-piece combination of panga panga, bubinga and maple woods with graphite bracing, giving it long sustain and a stable tone. The panga panga wood fingerboard has 24 stainless steel frets, plus a zero-fret, which keeps the string height above the other frets to a minimum and is also prized for intonation and sound. Specific hardware features of BTB basses include sealed tuning machines from renowned Gotoh, an input jack with safety lock and a unique split Mono-Rail fingerboard, ensuring maximum vibration transfer to each string within the body of the instrument.
Aguilar's DCB two-coil pickups provide dynamic attack, balanced sound at all frequencies and long sustain. The three-band active electronics are complemented by an EQ bypass and a three-position midrange switch (700 Hz, 450 Hz, 250 Hz), which are very important elements in any bass guitar to set the desired sound character.
