The Gretsch G5230T-N13 single-cut electric guitar from the more affordable Electromatic range is the signature model of guitarist and singer Nick 13 of the Californian trio Tiger Army, whose work blends elements of rock 'n' roll, hillbilly country and early punk.
The guitar's body is made of chambered mahogany and arched maple top. The mahogany neck with a "Thin U" profile is glued to a fig fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets. Orientation around its surface is facilitated by stylish position markers made of imitation mother-of-pearl in a "TigerBat" design.
The two Black Top Filter'Tron humbuckers accentuate the acoustic properties of the chambered body and provide the guitar with a balanced transparent sound with the necessary amount of clarity universally suitable for many musical styles, i.e. crystal clear tone and aggressive overdrive, depending on the player's needs. Controls in the form of two volume potentiometers (for each humbucker separately), tone shutter, overall instrument volume with Treble Bleed circuit (allowing Master Volume to be pulled down without accentuating bass frequencies) and a three-position pickup switch offer comprehensive control over the character of the sound.
Strings are anchored via a faux bone fretboard to chrome Die-Cast mechanicals, Adjusto-Matic headstock and Bigsby tremolo. The stylishly sombre design is accentuated by the black lacquer body, neck and headstock, contrasting bright binding and pickguard in Oxblood Plexi finish embellished with "TigerBat" graphics and the Gretsch corporate logo.
