The G&L Asat Classic electric guitar design represents Leo Fender's final word on the classic single-cut T design. The USA Fullerton Deluxe Asat Classic Butterscotch Blonde boasts a swamp ash body, bolt-on maple neck with a "Modern Classic" profile, and a maple fingerboard with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets (Jescar 57110). Position dots on the fingerboard make it easy to navigate.
Two single-coil MFD (Magnetic Field Design) pickups with ceramic magnets and adjustable pole extensions designed by Leo Fender allow the pickup output to be adjusted for each string separately. Combined and separately, they offer a wide variety of sounds - the characteristic punch and "twang" of Tele pickups as well as warm, round jazz tones.
Tuning stability and good sustain are ensured by mounting the strings via a bone zero fret in tuning machines with a 12:1 gear ratio and via a steel cob with six brass saddles through the body.
The guitar is supplied in a gig bag.
The G&L brand was founded in the late 1970s and early 1980s by Leo Fender, George Fullerton and Dale Hyatt. The design of electric guitars and basses with the G&L logo thus hints at what the instruments of another world-famous brand might have looked like had Leo Fender not got rid of it in the mid-1960s. Moreover, G&L's American-made guitars are still made in Fullerton on Fender Avenue, so they offer a piece of guitar history alongside stylish design and great sound.
