The G&L CLF Doheny V12 electric guitars offer a combination of offset body design and arguably the most musical humbuckers ever to come out of the Fender Avenue workshops. The CLF Research MFD pickups embody Leo Fender's vision of "end-to-end" humbuckers that will sound great in series, parallel-wired and single-coil mods, so their sound will stand out in any musical context.
The body of the USA CLF Research Doheny V12 OS - Tobacco is made from swamp ash. A rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-one Medium Jumbo nickel frets is glued to a bolt-on maple neck with a "Modern Classic" profile. The neck is reinforced by a brace located under the fingerboard, and positioning dots make it easier to orient the fingerboard.
Two proprietary CLF Research MFD humbuckers provide the guitar with a wide range of sonic colors that stand out in an equally varied palette of musical styles. Each pickup is assigned a separate wiring switch (series/parallel/single). The character of the sound can be adjusted via a volume potentiometer, two tone controls (Passive Treble and Bass) and a three-position pickup switch.
The strings are anchored in tuning machines with a 12:1 gear ratio and Dual Fulcrum vibrato with brass saddles and two-point mounting.
The guitar is supplied in a case.
The G&L brand was founded in the late 1970s and early 1980s by Leo Fender, George Fullerton and Dale Hyatt. The design of electric guitars and basses with the G&L logo thus hints at what the instruments of another world-famous brand might have looked like had Leo Fender not got rid of it in the mid-1960s. Moreover, G&L's American-made guitars are still made in Fullerton on Fender Avenue, so they offer a piece of guitar history alongside stylish design and great sound.
