The G&L JB-2 bass combines a proven sound with Leo Fender's modern approach. This model uses classic Alnico V pickups whose tone is reminiscent of the finest examples from the early 1960s. Paul Gagon, G&L's Vice President of Engineering, drew inspiration from studying the original designs stored in Leo Fender's private lab at G&L. However, his work goes back thirty years ago, when, as an R&D engineer at another company, he analyzed what made early bass guitar models so special. Gagon's careful analysis and consultation with longtime pickup builders allowed him to get to the bottom of the "real magic" of these instruments, which is reflected in the JB-2's rich and authentic sound.
Although the pickups are the source of the iconic tone, the JB-2 will surprise you with a clarity and sustain that older basses with their basic fingerboard designs cannot offer. The JB-2 boasts the innovative G&L Saddle-Lock™ bridge, which efficiently transfers string energy directly into the body of the instrument, increasing its resonance.
